About Steve Buyer

Since first elected to Congress, Steve Buyer has been a leader in the fight to reduce unnecessary government spending and bring responsible fiscal practices to Congress.  He has supported a balanced budget amendment and efforts to rein in federal spending to lower the deficit.   

Steve Buyer has been a leader in Congress to ensure that the men and women to wear our nation’ uniform have the training and equipment to fight and win the war on terror.   He has provided leadership to ensure our nation’s Veterans have the best health care and opportunities to succeed in life in the private sector.   

As a member of the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee, he has helped craft historic telecommunication policy so that America competes in today’s high-tech world and be prepared for what lies ahead.  Known as an expert on health care policy, he has planed significant roles in key health care related legislation by transforming the military health care system by fulfilling America’s promise to military retirees for health care for life (TriCare), helping reduce costs to consumers for prescription drugs, improve the doctor-patient relationship, to shorten the time for safe and approved medical devices & medicines to make it to market, and to increase preventive medicine. 

Congressman Buyer remains at the forefront on issues that affect Indiana, working for Hoosiers to make a difference.
